Who Should Watch

Regulators, safety assessors, and scientists working in or alongside cosmetic ingredient safety, including participants from regulatory agencies, industry, and associated research organizations. Both experienced practitioners and those newer to NAMs are welcome.

What the Session Will Cover

  • An overview of the ICCS BPG for skin sensitization workflow
  • Defined approaches for skin sensitization under OECD GL 497
  • Practical use of the 2o3, ITS and SARA-ICE model in real assessments
  • How these methods strengthen confidence while eliminating animal testing

Outcome

Participants will leave with a clear understanding of how to operationalize the ICCS BPG in day-to-day safety assessment and regulatory review.

Speakers

This webinar features speakers from ICCS member companies who share their first-hand experience applying NAMs in real-world safety assessments. Their practical insights, drawn directly from implementation, provides valuable perspective on how the ICCS BPG workflow is being used in practice.

Best Guidance in Practice - Case Study: Thioglycerol

Presentation

In July 2025, the International Collaboration on Cosmetics Safety (ICCS) released Best Practice Guidance Document – Skin Sensitization Assessment: Using New Approach Methods for Substances in Cosmetics and Personal Care Products on the use of New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) for skin sensitization assessment. The guidance document has been positively received by regulators and safety assessors as a key step toward consistent, evidence-based, and animal-free evaluations of cosmetic ingredients and personal care products.

This webinar continues that progress by focusing on practical implementation. Through real-world examples, the session provides practical application of defined approaches under OECD Guideline 497 (the 2 out of 3 (2o3), the Integrated Testing Strategy (ITS), and the SARA-ICE model); and how can be applied in regulatory risk assessment to support robust decision-making without the use of animals.

The Skin Sensitization: Safety Assessment Using NAMs for Substances in Cosmetics and Personal Care Products webinar launched the NAMs in Practice: ICCS Best Practice Guidance Webinar Series. ICCS anticipates hosting additional webinars to accompany upcoming Best Practice Guidance documents.
