Aquatic Toxicity: Cosmetic Ingredient Applicability of the OECD TG 249: RTGill-W1 Fish Cell Line Acute Toxicity Assay
Objective
- Identify most relevant gaps in the available data for chemicals tested against the gill cytotoxicity assay
- Generate high-quality OECD TG 249 data for cosmetic ingredients to evaluate strength in predicting acute fish toxicity.
- Identify potential chemical-specific limitations of the OECD TG 249 that may be difficult for ensuring robust environmental risk and hazard assessments and obtaining global regulatory acceptance
- Externally communicate findings (e.g., publication, conferences) of the work to support scientific confidence in the method and advance regulatory acceptance
