Persistence / Biodegradation: Review for In Silico Methods for Biodegradation / Persistence Assessment and Their Applicability for Functional Polymers
Objective
- Screen and summarize literature in terms of In Silico methods with focus on their applicability to predict degradation of polymers
- Describe possible breakdown processes of polymers and make recommendations on how this information can be incorporated into In Silico tools
- Analysis of importance of degradation products for degradability assessment of the whole polymer
- Highlight strengths and limitations together with applicability of In Silico tools for prediction of a polymer´s degradability
- Focus on: Soluble polymers (especially for cosmetic applications) and aquatous compartment
- Recommendations for optimization of In Silico methods for polymer degradability predictions
