Endocrine Disruptors: Identification of the Available In Vitro and In Silico Assays and Approaches to Determine Whether a Given Chemical has the Potential to Cause an Adverse Event as a Direct Consequence of an Endocrine Disruptive Mode of Action.
Objective
This project aims to provide a comprehensive assessment of the available in silico and in vitro assays to assess the potential of a chemical to act as an Endocrine Disruptor (ED) via the EATS MoAs by:
- Mapping of ED definition and regulatory status
- Information mining and WoE assessment of a chemical with available data
- Data generation to evaluate assay performance
Key questions that will be answered with this project:
- What combination of assays is sufficient to assess the endocrine activity of a chemical?
- What is the performance of individual in silico and in vitro methods?
- Can available assays be useful for underpinning endocrine MoA?
- Can we create an in vitro / in silico framework to assess the endocrine activity of a chemical?
