ICCS New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) Definition - 2025

Several definitions have been used for NAMs that create confusion and can misrepresent the scope of ICCS activities. To ensure transparency and clear communication, ICCS considers the term NAM to refer to any non-animal method, approach or combination thereof used to support safety assessments covering effects and exposure for humans and the environment (including fate) without new animal testing.
